COVID-19 and Adult Social Care in Staffordshire Care Market Development Team Update (Updated July 2022)
Message from The Care Market Development Team – since 2021
Given the significant impact Covid-19 is having on the care sector, we thought it might be useful to share an update with you in terms of the support, information and guidance we can provide you with and the changes we have implemented in response to the current situation.
Learning & Development / Training
Along with the County Council we have also made the decision to postpone all our face to face training events. We will continue with virtual training and signpost to endorsed training providers events throughout 2021 until revised guidance supports face to face training.
Skills for Care currently advise:
Due to the details contained within the Government's adult social care reform white paper ‘People at the Heart of Care’ and the changing learning and development landscape they have taken the decision to ‘pause’ the processing of endorsement applications and renewals through the Skills for Care Endorsement programme until further notice. Their currently endorsed providers remain of the utmost importance, and employers can continue to gain access to quality assured learning and development opportunities through the endorsed provider directory.
Everyone should be cautious while managing the risks, as cases of COVID-19 still remain present. Digital solutions are likely to continue to be the safest option, however you may be beginning to plan for, and have a need for the safe re-introduction of face-to-face training and assessment. Please use the Skills for Care risk assessment guidance.
Manager’s Quality Networking Forum (MQNF)
CMDT held a virtual MQNF in April 2022 and we will be supporting the next event on 20th September 2022. Information will be circulated about the event in due course.

Staffordshire County Council links into the national campaign outputs and shares these vacancies with citizens contacting them seeking jobs in the care sector.
