Support to get out and about

There are many different methods of support we provide which may help you to get out and about in your local area if you have difficulties getting out of the house, or have mobility issues.

Blue badges

If you are disabled, or have difficulties walking, blue badges (parking concessions for the disabled) are available on our main website.  People with hidden disabilities , such as dementia or anxiety disorders, can also now access blue badge parking permits.

The motability scheme

The motability scheme enables disabled people to get mobile by exchanging their mobility allowance to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair.

Driving with medical conditions

More information on driving with medical conditions, such as visual impairments or physical disabilities can be found on the government's website.

RiDC - Research Institute for Disabled Consumers

RiDC is a UK consumer research charity. They provide information for disabled people about getting around, including motoring and public transport.

Disabled motoring UK

Disabled motoring UK provides a range of information to help disabled drivers and passengers, so they can access the services they need.
