We have started to see an increase in the number of cases of Norovirus being identified across the community throughout Staffordshire, therefore we are advising Care Homes to ensure that they are prepared.

To assist care homes with the management of outbreaks of Infection NHS England have commissioned a resource toolkit for all care home staff to use, to access this toolkit please use the link below:

Infection Prevention And Control Team

This toolkit has educational resources, including videos and resources to print out which will assist you with identifying, preventing and managing both Influenza and Norovirus

If you suspect that you have an outbreak of an infection within you care home, please contact Public Health England (PHE) West Midlands for further advice on Tel: 0344 225 3560 Option 2

An outbreak is often defined as two or more cases of illness/symptoms that are linked to time and place (both residents and staff member are included)
