Special provision capital funding projects 2018-2019

Staffordshire County Council has been allocated £311,000 of Special Provision Capital Funding in 2018-19.

Doxey Primary School

Provision category:  Mainstream provision (not unit)

Ofsted judgement:  Requires improvement

Age range:  Primary

Special provision fund investment in facilities: £50,000

Type of SEN or disability that the project is designed to meet:  ASD

Aims of the project:  The project has been developed following the school's self-assessment against the Autism Education Trust 'School Autism Standards".

Install directional and door signage within metal slots to allow flexibility to change when classrooms are changed.  Install 6 workstations.  Install a sensory garden including a barefoot walk pathway, wind chimes and outdoor fixed instruments and herb garden.  Purchase sensory equipment including small trampoline for indoor use, body sock, gym ball, bilibo and a storage unit to store the equipment..

John Wheeldon Primary School

Aims of the project: The project has been developed following the school's self-assessment against the Autism Education Trust 'School Autism Standards".  

Create a sensory room/multi-sensory enviornment in the Birch building with appropriate ceiling height,  lighting, carpeting and various equipment such as optics, bubble tubes, textured walls etc to provide a calming enviornment for children with autism and sensory difficulties, and to enable us to provide them with a sensory diet.  Install work stations with surrounds to provide structured distraction free areas to work quietly.

Norton Canes High School

Provision category:  Mainstream provision (not unit)

Age range:  Secondary and Post 16

Special provision fund investment in facilities: £31,000

Type of SEN or disability that the project is designed to meet:  ASD

Aims of the project:   The project has been developed following the school's self-assessment against the Autism Education Trust 'School Autism Standards' via the school eco sub committee.

Create an outdoor space for pupils (mindfulness' garden).  Plant screening shrubs.  Install private seating,  Create a paved area.  Create raised beds for planting of sensory and edible plants.  The planint will be undertaken by pupils with support.  Install a water feature.  Purchase a small storage chest and simple tools for the ongoing maintenance of the garden.

Redbrook Hayes Primary School

Aims of the project:  The project has been developed following the school's self-assessment against the Autism Education Trust 'School Autism Standards'.  

Create a sensory garden/outside area to improve the sensory development by stimulating all senses including sight, touch, taste and sound, through the use of different plants and materials.

Tillington Manor Primary School

Make a classroom in each area of school an Autism-friendly classroom.  Install 2 workstations in 4 different classrooms.  Additional development in each classroom based on the TEACHH approach to structure physically and visually to support independent learning.  Develop a sensory room with soft furnishings, sensory lights and sensory equipment.

Wilnecote School

Aims of the project:    The project has been developed following the school's self-assessment against the Autism Education Trust 'School Autism Standards' . 

Remodel a classroom.  Create a sensory room including removal of walling, decorating and lighting.  Create sensory garden including raised beds, planting, fencing and shelter.

 

Wolstanton High School

Age range:  Secondary

Special provision fund investment in facilities: £3,000

Type of SEN or disability that the project is designed to meet:  ASD

Aims of the project:   The project has been developed following the school's self-assessment against the Autism Education Trust 'School Autism Standards'.

Replace current 6 x strip lights using 12 fluroscent bulbs with LED lighting in the current ASD resource room.

Anglesey Primary School

Aims of the project:   The project has been developed following the school's self-assessment against the Autism Education Trust 'School Autism Standards'. Reconfigure a classroom to dedicate the space for ASD pupils.  Purchase and install 6 work stations with surrounds.  Purchase of portable dividing screens to create separate areas within the classroom.
