Suggested Outcomes for Learners on a Supported Internship

By the end of his/her supported internship the young person will:

  • be able to demonstrate employability skills (time keeping, team work, problem solving, communication skills, decision making) to enable him/her to participate successfully in a workplace environment.
  • have learned job specific skills and gained relevant work experience in their chosen area to enhance his/her CV and increase opportunities for future employment.
  • have achieved ‘qualification or modules’ to prepare him/her for future work based opportunities.
  • will have achieved level X in English and Maths to further support his/her transition to adulthood and life beyond education.
  • achieved level X in Maths and English so that he/she can read, understand and confidently complete a job application form.
  • have develop his/her communication skills to enable him/her to confidently participate in an interview situation and be able to express their strengths in relation to the work-based environment.
  • have develop his/her communication skills to enable him/her to confidently participate in community activities and be able to express their views to other members of the community.
  • have developed transferable skills to enable him/her to travel to and from a place of work independently in a safe and reliable manner.
  • have developed basic transferable skills to enable him/her to live as independently as possible and remain safe in unsupported environments and maintain an adequate level of life skills to ensure their health, safety and well-being.
  • Developed employability and independence skills so that he can complete external work placements via a Supported Internship programme where skills and confidence are developed on the job to enable him to transfer these skills to employment opportunities.
  • Developed his communication skills so that he can confidently participate in a work-based environment and build the skills needed for future employment.
  • Developed his expressive language so that he can confidently request help within a working environment and complete tasks with greater confidence as he transitions into employment.
  • Developed his understanding of language so that he can responded accurately to instructions within a working environment with confidence.
  • Developed his/her functional English and Maths Skills in line with his/her employability skills so that he/she can successfully complete his/her programme, achieve his/her aspirations and secure employment

Employment and Careers - By the end of Year 14 Billy will have:

  • consistently demonstrated good organisation and time keeping skills within the learning environment.
  • produced a quality CV that fully encompasses his skills, qualifications and attainments.
    experienced a working environment through work experience and the voluntary sector.
  • Developed his functional Maths and English skills so that he can apply them in future employment and everyday situations, supporting his transition to adulthood and life beyond education.
  • Learned job specific skills and gained relevant work experience in his chosen area to increase opportunities for future employment.
  • Developed her functional literacy and numeracy skills so that she can practically apply her learnt skills to achieve formal qualifications within her 2 year College course which will enable her to use these to gain employment or training.
  • Developed her organisational, study skills and concentration, taking a greater responsibility for self-management, so that she can listen and work at appropriate learning tasks independently and confidently, helping her to develop, vocational and employability skills, so she can successfully achieve her goal of moving into work after College.
  • Developed her use of strategies to improve her memory so that she is able to retain information given to her and develop her transferable skills so that she is able to use these skills in her adult life as she moves through college and into the work environment. 

Employment –

  • Develop work related learning throughout KS5 through work experience and the school community programme, so that he/she understands different types of job roles, working with other people and customers and being able to work with money.
Independent Lives

Independent Lives - By the end of Year 14 Billy will have:

  • Investigated independent/supported living options and made choices regarding his living arrangements.
  • Responsibility for managing his mobile phone bills.
  • Consistently demonstrated high level of personal care and take responsibility for his personal care needs.
  • Accessed public transport networks successfully and independently.
Friendships and communities

By the end of Year 14 Billy will have:

  • Established community links outside of school.
  • A secure understanding of his local community and how to access local services.
  • Developed good friendship links outside of the school environment.
Community
  • Develop his/her ability to develop independent living skills, so that he/she understands life skills needed for adulthood as part of a study programme.
  • Develop his/her awareness of stranger danger, internet safety and safe travel in the community, so that he/she can keep safe and understand relationships with others familiar and unfamiliar people.
Good health

By the end of Year 14 Billy will have:

  • Taken responsibility for arranging and attending his own dental appointments.
  • Maintained his good health and well being by joining his local leisure centre.
Cognition and Learning

Explore all forms of work options - voluntary and paid before end of year via experiential learning in real work locations.
