Citizens Advice offers a range of free advice services to help you find a way forward, whatever the problem. They provide independent advice on consumer rights, debt, employment, family matters, housing and homelessness, immigration, welfare benefits and tax credits.
You can find your local branch, by using the citzens advice search tool.
There are also other organisations that can offer information, advice and guidance around money matters. You find these organisations here on Staffordshire Connects.
Do you have a support or care plan? Are you eligible to receive social care support? If so, rather than the Council arranging your services, you could arrange your services yourself, through Direct Payments.
A direct payment is when your personal budget is paid directly to you to buy your own care and support in line with your assessed needs.
It allows you to have more choice and control over your life by enabling you to make decisions about how your care is delivered.
More information about direct payments can be found on the Staffordshire County Council website.
By clicking on the right hand menu, you can find a ranage of organisations offering support around direct payments that can help with:
- Payroll for employing a personal assistant who can offer you support
- managing your account for direct payments
- recruiting a personal assistant
- arranging a disclosure and barring service check (DBS)
Advocates help people who are unable or have substantial difficulty saying what they want to say, and to help them be involved in discussions and decisions about their care and support.
You can find organisations offering advocacy support by clicking on the right hand menu.
