What is the Homes for Ukraine scheme?
The Homes for Ukraine scheme was launched by the UK government on 14 March 2022. This scheme allows people living in the UK to sponsor a named Ukrainian national or family to come to live in the UK with them, providing they have suitable accommodation to offer.
As of the 28th July 2022 the Homes for Ukraine scheme was opened up to allow applications from thise who are under 18 and not travelling with or joining their parent or legal guardian.

Arrivals under the Ukrainian Family Scheme
If you obtained your visa to come to the UK under the Family Scheme, see the link below for more information :
Please be aware that if you are hosting someone through the Ukraine Family scheme, you will not receive monetary "thank you" payments or formal support. However, the majority of information contained within the Support for Guests tab below will be relevant to your guests.
What the council's role is
Under the Homes For Ukraine scheme, local councils have been given certain responsibilities, including:
- carrying out checks on sponsors and sponsors' homes
- making arrangements for payments to those arriving in UK under the scheme
- making arrangements for the 'thank you' payment to sponsors
- helping to make sure our guests settle into life in Staffordshire

Visa applications are handled by the UK Visas and Immigration service (UKVI). Unfortunately we will not be able to provide you with any information about your visa application. You can contact them on 0808 164 8810.
