Important information for parents during COVID-19 lockdown

Parents please read !!

Due to the COVID-19 virus, parents looking for childcare should be aware of the following information:

  • Childcare settings should now only supply childcare to parents who are classed are critical workers and vulnerable children as defined by government guidelines
  • If it is at all possible for children to stay safely at home, they must, to limit the chance of the virus spreading
  • If a child needs specialist support, is vulnerable or has a parent who is a critical worker, then educational provision will be available for them.

Support for families for all ages

Parent support groups

Parent support groups are often set up and run by parents and carers of children with special educational needs and disabilities.  Some professionals and voluntary organisations may also run groups.   Parent support groups can be a great way to meet other parents for emotional or practical support.  Search our directory below for local parent support groups who have registered with us. 

Grandparents

Are you a grandparent of a child with a special need or disability?  Did you know there is support group especially for you?

Sibling support

Sibs exists to support people who grow up with or have grown up with a disabled brother or sister. It is the only UK charity representing the needs of over half a million young siblings and over one and a half million adult siblings.

Carers Association Southern Staffordshire (CASS)
