Disagreement Resolution Services

Disagreement resolution services are available to parents of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, where it has not been possible to resolve issues through the normal routes, such as a school or college complaints process.

The service is available to all children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, not just those who have or are being assessed for an Education Health and Plan and can be used at any time with the agreement of the parties involved.

Disagreement resolution services are:

Voluntary for parents/carers/young people
Confidential
Free of charge to parents/carers/young people

Disagreement resolution meetings give an opportunity for key people to meet face to face to explore all options. They are facilitated by an independent and impartial mediator who has training and experience of dealing with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, with a view to achieving an outcome which is agreed by and acceptable to all concerned.
