Children's Community Offender Health Support

Local Offer NHS
MPFT logo

We work with children up to the age of 18 who have some involvement with the criminal justice system.

At a low level offence we offer a liaison and diversion service where we identify any unmet health needs, offer short term intervention and refer to appropriate universal services.

Children whose behaviour requires the statutory youth offending service are offered long term health support with their mental and physical health.

Who can use the service?

Any child who is involved with the youth offending service in Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire up to the age of 18.

Are there any costs?

No

How can I refer?

All children will automatically be offered the service when they become known to the youth offending team.

What happens after referral?

Children will be offered an appointment with a Nurse, usually within their own home, with their guardian present. A health assessment will take place and support given when necessary.

Who will we see?

A nurse.

What happens when I come to the service?

Any unmet health needs will be identified and support given to meet the needs.

What happens when I become an adult?

Any outstanding health issues will be transferred to adult universal health services.

How do I find out more?

Contact the youth offending teams, or ask the child's case manager.
