We provide regular carer support relief for anyone who undertakes a caring role that is unpaid or informal care for a friend, loved one or family member. This is to enable the carer to gain a regular break, maintain a hobby or just to improve their overall health and wellbeing by having a break. This service is designed to allow the cared for to remain in their own home.

Who can use our service?

What happens when I come to the service?

The care and support provider will come to the family home to provide the support. There is no need for the cared for to travel.

Referral Details

Referrals can be made via Staffordshire County Council

What happens after referral?

After a referral is made, a member of staff from the relevant commissioned agency will contact you to arrange an assessment of need. This is to understand what support you may need while your carer is having a break.

Some examples of how support can be offered are as follows

  • providing information in a range of formats, making sources of information, advice, and guidance easy to find and to navigate, and signposting Carers to other agencies which can offer support and advice.
  • encouraging Carers to identify themselves to their GP as Carers in order that appropriate support can be offered when required.
  • reducing the likelihood of Carer breakdown by encouraging Carers to contact support services, during times of increased pressure due to their caring role.
  • providing both Home and Community Based Activities for the cared for person  which may include accompanying both carer and the cared for person  out so they can have time together with support for the individual where required

  • Someone to stay with the cared for,for a minimum of 2 hours and this can include standard domicilliary care support such as washing, dressing and food preparation for example
