Tamworth Memory/Dementia Café

Home Instead

Tamworth Memory Cafe supported by Home Instead in partnership with the Heart of Tamworth Community project. We are a domiciliary care agency who specialises in the care and support of people living with dementia; we work in the community with key support workers.  The Memory café offers a place where people can come together in a supporting friendly environment, with others that are in similar circumstances. By talking and finding out how others deal with things, people can better manage their own situations.

The café is also supported by the Alzheimer’s society and the Community mental health team who visit on a bi-monthly basis.  There is a private room, if members who want to discuss more complex matters.

The café is supported by 2 trained caregivers and volunteers and we have a bi-monthly news letter which lists activities.

The Memory Café is open Every Tuesday 10:30am to 12:30pm

Sacred Heart, Silverlink Road, Glascote.

Other notes

The Memory Café is a place where individuals with memory loss and their carers can get to together in a safe supportive and engaging environment.

The café encourages friendship, provides emotional support and reduces isolation often felt by people with memory loss.

What the Memory Café Offers

The social side is probably the most important aspect of the café.  It provides a chance to have a cuppa and chat with friends. Appropriate, fun activities are available for everyone to take part in if they want but there is no obligation or pressure to do so.  You can sit and chat or just listen to what’s going on around you.

Shared activities can promote a sense of belonging, bring enjoyment and pleasure.  By remaining involved and active, a person living with dementia can maintain their skills and independence for longer.

Relevant information on living with memory loss and who can help, is available.

Join us

You are very welcome to come along and join us on any or all cafe sessions, there is no need to book.  There is no commitment if you want to just pop in and see what we are about.

We are here to help both you and your loved one living with dementia.
