Aiming High - Sherratts Wood - Fun Days (Farm and Forest Activity) Saturday Sessions

Saturday sessions will take place on the farm and the woodland area, families will be able to take part in feeding and looking after the animals on the farm and then have an opportunity to take part in forest school based activities in the woodland area.

Families will also have the opportunity to use the fitness suite or take part in arts and crafts activities and baking.

Transport may be available dependent on attendance.

Parents are asked to stay for the entire session, siblings can attend but should be mobile and be able to follow instructions.

Who?

Young people aged 5-17 with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) who live in Staffordshire and their parents/carers.

A parent/carer must stay for the duration of the session.

Siblings may be able to join in with some sessions if spaces are available - please check with the provider in advance of the activity. 

If siblings would also like to attend, please ensure that more than one adult attends as part of your group.  This can be discussed in more depth with the Provider.

15 young people per session.

Anything else I need to know?  

Please wear outdoor clothes (a change of clothes may be useful).   

Please bring a packed lunch - drinks are provided.  

The Provider will contact all attendees in advance of the sessions to discuss support needs.  

Bookings: 

If you would like to take part, please call 0300 111 8007 (option 2 and then option 5) to register your interest.  

 Please book your place by 12pm two days before the activity takes place.  

The Provider requests a contribution of £2.50 if this activity is not accessed as part of the free activity offer.   

We kindly ask that bookings are made through our telephone booking line. 

We do however want to make sure that bookings for our activities are accessible to everyone and so if you are unable to contact our booking team via telephone please email sendreferrals@staffordshire.gov.uk and a member of the team will be in touch as soon as possible. 

If you can please include information on your child’s name, date of birth and the activity provider and date that you are interested in, it will help the team to deal with your enquiry.

Sherratts Wood Manager Zoe Hall will contact the family via text and e-mail prior to the visit to assess needs, behaviour triggers etc. Zoe will also enquire about likes and dislikes to ensure the activity is suitable and planned correctly to make certain that the family enjoy their session at Sherrratts Wood. 

Other notes

Parents/carers and siblings may attend. Siblings should be mobile and be old enough to able to follow instruction without support.

Parents must stay for the whole session.

Once staff are familiar with the support needs of the child, the child may be able to attend independently after discussions with the staff and Manager

We are able to provide for individuals who do not function within their age range, specialist staff can support individuals through their day and the activities and support where required.

 

Children with mobility issues can be provided for, however, wheelchairs will find it difficult to access the woodland area when it is bad weather due to the mud.
