Stafford Social Hub - Virtual support now available

Stafford Social Hub is a project funded by the National Lottery 'Reaching Communities' Community Fund offering a fresh approach to mental health and wellbeing.

We provide a face to face social network for the residents of Stafford to gain ongoing emotional, social, and practical support by joining groups, activities and 1-1's in the local community.

We facilitate a weekly social programme of activities delivered by volunteers who have lived experience of mental distress who understand the difficulties our members face.

In the past, this service has only been for people accessing Emotional Wellbeing in Stafford and Surrounds. Now, it is for anyone who feels they need that ongoing support, either during or after receiving therapy, or even instead of, if they feel this is more suited to their needs.

We can work with anyone who feels lonely or isolated, low in mood or anxious, or even those wanting to make more friends and get out more, or volunteer their time to help others in their local community. Everyone is welcome.

Social Programme: We offer a wide range of recreational activities, such as walks, cinema visits, coffee mornings, day trips and social outings, to help improve social health. We also offer a number of volunteer run support groups to help maintain mental health, such as Choose To Change, Create and Talk and Fresh Start.

What is Social Health? Well...it's about keeping active, going out, meeting people, making friends and having fun. It's about feeling comfortable in social situations and having the skills and confidence to enjoy life with others. Evidence suggests this can have a beneficial affect on mental health and prevents relapse.

A Safe Space: to learn skills and build confidence with the encouragement and aim of integrating more fully into local community and to progress and maintain mental health recovery.

We also run volunteer training in peer support and a bespoke, accredited level 2 course called "Supporting People in Recovery", which teaches learners how to support people in the community as well as a range of self management tools.
