Family Hub Activities

The Family Hub pages are open for contact Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm

Are you looking for something creative to do with your children that can add to their learning and development without it being a lesson?

This is where we are here to help.  Staffordshire County Council has worked in partnership with Family Action to produce a whole range of simple craft activities for you and your children to try, that are low cost to make with no expensive equipment required.

Each of the crafts include familiar items that you may find lying around the house or in the recycling bin! They are simple to follow for the most novice of crafters and are aimed at children from toddlers to teens and beyond. We have made videos  for our crafts so you can see how we did things, all of which have step by step instructions that are easy to follow.

This page has been designed to help you with;

  • Inspiration for crafty things to do on a budget with your family
  • Ideas how you can extend the activities or change them to suit you
  • Finding out what sort of craft activities you and your children like the best (that may later become a hobby)
  • Helping you and your children in exploring new texture, colours, shapes, smells and skills
  • Increasing development and learning in a fun way
  • Supporting your child to become school ready

You can click on the examples of craft activities listed below with downloadable 'How To' sheets or on the video link to be taken to our YouTube channel.

If you try any of our makes, we would love to see them, you can upload pictures to your local Family Hub Facebook page. Is there anything you would like to see us make? Just drop us a message and we can have a go.

We are adding new craft makes all the time so keep checking back for more inspiration.

How can I get involved?

We will be using our Family Hub Facebook pages to post craft activities giving everyone a chance to get involved.  You can post your own creations and share hints and tips on how to improve the makes by swopping what you use for your creations.  If you have any new ideas, please feel free to also share these with our Facebook pages by tagging us into your post, or sending them through Personal Messenger.
