New Start 4U

Newstart4U.co.uk  is funded project by the National Lottery Community Fund and aims to support people aged 18+ living in Stafford, Cannock and South Staffordshire who are not currently in work.

There are many reasons why people are unable to work; this could be health reasons, childcare issues, financial restrictions, losing benefits, a lack of self-esteem or confidence, no access to transport or suitable clothing for interviews, or maybe just an out-of-date CV. The list really is endless and often overwhelming.

It’s our job to help you take the steps towards becoming work ready. We aren’t here to force you into work, we’re here to help and support you to be the best version of yourself; to help you to become healthier, happier and have the skills needed to take a step closer towards training and employment.

We do this through a range of one-to-one support and tailored training to boost your confidence and wellbeing. The programme is completely free meaning you’re able to focus 100% on improving your personal, financial and employability skills one step at a time.

Our programme is unique in that it looks at all areas of your life and supports you to overcome the barriers you’re facing in aspects of your life. We want you to be happy and healthy so that in the future you feel capable and confident enough to apply for work. Some people may not be looking for full-time work, but would like to work part-time or to do volunteering in the community. We can also support you to find volunteering opportunities or work placements to improve your skills, your CV and most importantly improve yourself.

The journey to get to that point will be different for every person and that’s what makes our programme special; we treat you as the unique individual you are, we respect that everyone’s story is different and we empower you to live your best life. We listen to you, support you and put you first.

We also host weekly clubs across Stafford and South Staffordshire for you to drop-in and receive free support and guidance, including:

  • budgeting skills
  • IT coaching
  • career coaching and personal development plans
  • computer and internet access for job searching
  • interview techniques and employability skills
  • access to volunteering and work placement opportunities
  • confidence building sessions
  • access to local adult and community learning training courses
  • access to various support services
