Care First - Woodcraft courses

Come along, join the woodcraft group and you’ll learn about the many aspects of recycling wood, grading it and getting it ready for making items.  Then making many different items from bird boxes to disability garden benches, you’ll discover how easy it is, with a bit of help, to make all these items and you’ll gain recognised, accredited qualifications that will help you develop your life, living and work skills.

Everything we do is delivered in practical bite sized chunks taking the stress out of learning and making it fun. Your course has been carefully designed to teach you, at your pace all about wood, joints, tool safety, designing items and finishing them ready for sale.

About Care First

We deliver learning opportunities and training for adults with learning difficulties, adults with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, mental health and or autistic spectrum disorder. Adult learning disability services are provided via our learning disability centres.

All of our learning opportunities have been carefully developed using our years of hands on experience gained working with adults with learning difficulties, learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, mental health and or autistic spectrum disorder.

Everything we do is centred on you, as we want you to enjoy your course as well as learn new skills and enhance ones you currently have. Courses are delivered in our own gardens and workshops in Tamworth.  They have been carefully created to help adults with mild to moderate learning difficulties who can travel independently gain greater life skills making them safer, happier and more confident within the community.

Where possible we base our learning opportunities on a Social Enterprise learning model, helping you learn practical skills as well as work based skills. We ensure all our courses will give you a recognised and accredited qualification helping you move forward in life.

FREE Taster Days are now available – just call Heidi Benton on 0121 358 8161 to organise.
