Who is the course for?
The course is designed for beginners but is also of use for those with some very basic knowledge of using their device.
Aim of the course
To introduce new users to using their device, either a computer, iPad, tablet or laptop. Introducing new users to a keyboard, the internet, and e-mail. Learners will develop a small portfolio of evidence covering these topics.
Teaching will include tutor led sessions, tutor demonstration, question and answer sessions, and student exercises. You will work at your own pace will work in small groups or in pairs. You will also record your own learning progress. You will receive an accredited certificate.
What will the course cover?
The course could cover the following areas, starting with device basics, using an iPad keyboard, using apps, using the internet, searching the internet using a search engine, using an email account to send and receive emails, using iPads, the internet and email safely.
Where and when is it?
Except for some very small libraries, most libraries in Staffordshire offer these courses usually in the morning or afternoon. Ask a member of the library staff for information.

What can I do after the course?
You can move on to another computer course e.g. Tablet Basics E3, Tablet Plus, or an ITQ Level 1 Award for IT Users. You can also have an Information and Advice session if you want to see what further learning you can do.
