Proactive Home Visits
When a child is born sometimes parents can feel unsure of how to access services or groups which support the needs of their young family. Through an initiative introduced by Staffordshire Country Council YMCA staff visit families with children under the age of 2 years to offer them support and guidance about activities and facilities in the local area.
Through this visit staff are also able to identify any families who require additional support. These families can be referred on to the Family Support Service where the period of support can extend over a period of approximately 12 weeks.
The Bookstart programme is delivered to parents and children within the family home to support the enjoyment of books, singing and play in the development of your child. The programme comprises of 4 visits (approximately 1 hour each visit) when a dedicated worker will bring resources and spend time with your family. The resources are yours to keep. This programme is open to all.
