Specialist Pelvic Health Team (Continence team) Staffordshire
The Specialist Pelvic Health Team (formerly known as the Continence Service) provides care and support through specialist assessment, treatment and conservation management of bladder and bowel dysfunction and pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Our team consists of specialist nurses, physiotherapists and administrators. We give advice and support to patients and their carers and we work closely with the integrated care teams to ensure you get the right advice and support to manage your symptoms.
We are able to offer help and support, taking into account needs and preferences. We provide treatments such as pelvic floor re-education, bladder re-training, advice on diet and fluids, electrical stimulation to promote muscle activity, catheter care management and problem solving. We also offer a range of containment products to help manage symptoms where appropriate.
We will liaise with your GP or consultant about medication as required and will refer you to see a hospital consultant if necessary.
Who is the service for?
Children and young people from the age of 4-19 years who live in Staffordshire. At the age of 18 the young person would transition over to the care of the adults service.
