What we do?

1st Staff provide tuition for reception to Key Stage 5 pupils for a variety of reasons. Those that are at risk of exclusion, those that have been permanently excluded, or those who are not attending school for medical reasons.

We provide tuition either at pupils’ homes or risk assessed community spaces or specialist facilities. The majority of the pupils we work with have Social Emotional and Mental Health/Autism Spectrum Disorder needs or some form of special educational need without yet having an Education Health and Care Plan. We use specially trained teachers and tutors to deal with each specific child to meet their needs. We also provide daily logs and weekly reports to ensure we have a positive impact.

Just some of our support services:

  • Small Group Work
  • 1 to 1 Behaviour Mentor Support
  • Art/Music/Drama Therapy
  • Respite, Reflect & Repair
  • Integration between schools and/or alternative provider
  • Prevention of Permanent Exclusion
  • Behaviour Management Strategies
  • Thrive
  • Arts Awards

We work with pupils with or without an Education Health and Care Plan.  Our purpose is to return students to specialist or mainstream education, as soon as is practical. We deliver person-centred, bespoke, high-quality education and therapeutic learning, ensuring that students have outstanding opportunities to re-integrate.

1st Staff are currently commissioned by several local authorities and County Councils across the U.K. including Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Nottinghamshire, Trafford and London Boroughs.

We are on Staffordshire County Council's list of alternative providers for tutoring and complementary alternative provision.
