1:1 private riding sessions are aimed at first-time riders but will also suit riders who find group situations too difficult.

The focus will be on getting used to being with a pony, getting on and off safely and enjoying a ride. We will provide a leader and side supporters, as required, for each person.

A 30 minute time slot will be arranged with Gartmore Riding School after booking.

Notes

Sessions will be 1:1. Time will be agreed with parents/carers prior to the activity.

Parents/carers should bring any medications needed.

Parents/carers must stay for the duration of the session.

Please wear outdoor clothing. Gartmore Riding School will provide riding boots and a riding hat for riders as well as a drink and biscuit.

Please arrive ten minutes before the start of the session so that we can fit a hat and boots. All riders and families to wait in the tack room until we come and collect you for your session.

Please note that Gartmore may be running a little late because of unforeseen circumstances/ other riders’ needs. Please be patient with us.

Gartmore will ask parents and carers to complete pre-riding consent forms when they are with them. These must be completed with full details of all needs so that they can adapt for individual requirements

Details
Siblings will not take part in the riding activities but are welcome to participate in the non-riding activities. A charge of £5 per sibling is payable for this element of the offer and this includes a drink, biscuit and rosette. This needs to be paid in cash on the day.

Other notes

Young people with medically diagnosed conditions must have written permission from a qualified member of their Multi-Disciplinary Team to confirm that they are allowed to ride, and details of any medical restrictions must be shared with us prior to any sessions taking place.

Please be fully open with the Booking Team about all special needs.

When attending an activity session, we ask parents/carers to adhere to our code of conduct:

  • Only parents or carers may enter the premises with their child/children. Please do not bring other adults onto the premises.
  • Please keep within the allocated areas on the premises as guided by staff.
  • We would request that parents/carers stay for at least the first session to support your child and any requirements they may have.
  • For parents/carers who drop off their child and do not stay for the session, please return to the premises promptly at the session finish time to collect your child/children.
  • A rider’s registration form must be completed in full for each child who attends the course.
  • Any special needs or requirements for your child must be fully disclosed. Any information you provide will be treated with confidentiality.
  • Parents/carers must not take photographs at any time anywhere on the premises until we have sought permission for all attendees.
  • We will provide suitable opportunities for photographs to be taken. These must not be shared on social media of any kind. This is part of our safeguarding of all people who come to us and our staff and volunteers.
