Careline offer a free befriending service to people living in the Derbyshire Dales and East Staffordshire.
We aim to make people’s lives better by calling those who feel in need of support – they may be elderly, less able to get out, recently bereaved, feeling lonely or isolated. We offer friendship to the people we call and peace of mind to their family and friends.
Our team of over 80 volunteers make the befriending calls, providing greater social interaction for our members and helping to give them the confidence to remain living independently. We monitor people’s well-being and pass on useful information about the services available to them in their local community.
Our service is completely free and available every day of the year including weekends and bank holidays.
Would you like to become a Careline volunteer?
We are always looking for new people of all ages to join our team of volunteers!
We have a loyal group of over 80 volunteers, many of whom have been supporting Careline for years. The majority of befriending calls are made from our office in St Oswald’s Hospital, although some volunteers make calls from their own homes. So if you are less mobile but feel that you would like to become a volunteer please do get in touch.
