New Leaf Alternative Provision

New Leaf Alternative Provision is a specialist Alternative Provision in Burton for students aged 11-18 who are struggling to cope or thrive in mainstream education. We have an outstanding reputation for our work with students on the autistic spectrum or those with ADHD, particularly high functioning students with heightened anxiety. We are able to offer Functional Skills or GCSE's in English Language, English Literature, Science and Mathematics and we are a registered examination centre, so students can sit their examinations at New Leaf.
We offer a variety of sessions across the week aimed at meeting very different needs. Mondays are well-being days designed to engage students in a range of activities designed to support mental health such as sport, cooking, art and social outings. These days are ideal for those who are coping in mainstream but need a respite day to recharge batteries and get energised for the rest of the week. It is also ideal for those with anxiety who need to make the first steps to re-engage with education in a gentle, nurturing way - building confidence and self esteem before returning to school or improving their attendance.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are specialist teacher led days where students can study GCSE's or Functional Skills across a range of subjects. These days are for those who can cope with an academic curriculum as three subjects tend to be taught on these days with the end of the day normally reserved for a social or wellbeing activity. We can personalise according to need.
Thursdays and Fridays at New Leaf are for those who may struggle to engage academically at GCSE level and who need a curriculum that is less intense academically (functional skills or entry level) with frequent bursts of movement through sport, leisure or recreational activities.
We can also provide short stay placements for those waiting to transition to specialist or mainstream school placements. This includes those students who are Post 16 and who require an additional nurture, stamina and confidence building year before going to college or apprenticeships. Students can re-sit their GCSE's or study at Functional Level in English and Mathematics.
