Lifeways: Respite for adults with learning disabilities and complex care

The purpose of the services is to enable people with a learning disability to access overnight accommodation based short breaks at:

  • a five bedded residential unit Silverbirch, Burton-Upon-Trent.
  • a ten bedded residential unit (including one flat) at Woodland View, Cannock.
  • a thirteen bedded residential unit at Douglas Road, Newcastle.

The service provides an accommodation-based overnight short break to meet people's needs.

It provides short breaks for customers with complex needs (including health needs) who may also display behaviours that challenge the service, environment and others residing within the service.

Who can use the service?

Eligible people aged 16 or older with a learning dsability and/or an autistic spectrum condition.

You will be supported by trained care and support staff.

Are there any costs?

You may be required to financially contribute to the cost of their care, following a financial assessment.

How do I refer?

If you have an assessed eligible need for accommodation-based respite, then you will be referred by your adult learning disability worker.

What happens after referral?

Your social worker will make the referral on your behalf and make the necessary arrangements.
