CALMs Alternative Provision - Charnwood Forest Alpacas

Open Monday to Thursday 10am to 3pm for groups. Monday to Sunday 8.30am to 4pm for individual placements

CALMs Alternative Provision (Cognitive Animal Learning Methods).  See our website.

At CALMs our education programme is designed to offer individuals support within a structured and calm educational environment, following our ethos of ‘Calm and Confident’.

Our sessions are available to young people who may require addition support. CALMs are currently working with learners primarily between the ages of 11 to 16 years old. From 2021 we are looking to extend our current provision to provide opportunities for learners of all ages, including adult placements.

Learners are invited to attend 1-5 days a week, over a period of 6 weeks or more.

All our educational programmes are designed to embed functional skills whilst developing practical and theory based skills and knowledge on basic animal welfare. We are passionate about the positive impact animals have on helping learners'.

We believe by working in small groups or within a 121 setting learners can thrive, allowing them to gain self awareness, confidence and empathy.

Other notes

As a provider we are able to cater to a wide variety of needs. Each learner will be assessed and have a risk assessment completed as part of their referral process. Ensuring all activates organised are suitable for the individuals physical and academic needs. Groups and individual placements offer flexibility depending on dates, timing and structure. Currently we are in partnership with other educational providers who use ourselves as a base to deliver practical sessions. We also work with Dr Marnie Aston, Imagine Inclusions, providing a Educational Psychology service in regards to referral for a variety of assessments
