Grow: Eco Therapy Burton and District Mind

Mind - Logo

Burton and District Mind are hosting Eco Therapy Projects from 2022.

"I find I am able to chat with other members with ease. I feel I too mean something as a person"

"I found myself really relaxing. It makes such a difference to my anxiety."

These are funded by Staffordshire County Council 'Doing Our Bit' and by Toyota Manufacturing Charitable Trust.

Held over weekly 2-3 hours sessions, people can get out of the house to our COVID-19 safe venues, have some fresh air and make new friends whilst learning about how to grow vegetable and plants, facilitated by our skilled and friendly horticulturalists and counsellors.

We can accept referrals from any agency. We can also accept self-referrals.

The eligibility for Grow Eco Therapy  is:

  • adults only
  • must live in the Burton on Trent area (including Branston, Stretton, Horninglow, Anglesey, Stapenhill, Winshill, etc)
  • must have lived experience of mild to moderate mental illness or the carer of someone with mental illness, although this does not have to have been diagnosed by GP or mental health practitioner.
  • For people with severe mental illness, we are happy to accept referrals as part of a recovery plan/Care Programme Approach.

We have previously been asked if children can accompany participants –due to the nature of the project and the site, that this would not be appropriate.
