Children and young person's diabetes nursing team


To provide specialist diabetes community nursing services to children and young people under the care of The University Hospitals of North Midlands who have a diagnosis of diabetes.
Support is provided in a variety of settings as well as providing a 7-day On Call Service to reduce and in most cases prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.
The service:
- Provides specialist support, education, training and expert advice from diagnosis through to supported transition to Adult Services.
- Work in partnership with the Child and Family providing real choice as to how and where they receive nursing care and support.
Referral Criteria
Referrals are received via The University Hospital of North Midlands Children’s Ward for children and young people aged 0-18 years with a suspected diagnosis of Diabetes.
