Accessibility

Continue to improve accessibility and navigation with mystery shoppers, parents, carers and young people.

Since the last annual survey, we have received 22 feedback forms from our mystery shoppers. 13 required no further action.  This was because the information they were looking for was found easily.  As result of 9 feedback forms, changes have been, or are in the process of being made.  Once actions are completed, feedback is added to our You said, we did page.  Feedback is also considered via our Local Offer Group, our Regional Local Offer Group, the Staffordshire Connects website feedback form and, of course, our yearly survey.

More information about our mystery shopper scheme can be found here.

Set up a page on the Local Offer explaining what it is and how to use it.  Offer training webinars for professionals and parents.

A guide to the local offer has been produced with parents.  It includes an Easy Read Guide.  The Guide explains:

  • what Staffordshire Connects and the SEND Local Offer is,
  • how to access it,
  • who can support you by talking you through it,
  • how to search for information, and the
  • functions of the accessibility bar.

Recorded training webinars have also been developed; one providing a tour of the local offer using information from the guide, and one for activity providers running through how they can set up and amend their own listings and what information it would be useful to include.  These are available on the Guide to the Local Offer page.

Look into producing more video clips accessible to all.

We have been working with the Regional Local Offer Group to produce a short video which provides an overview of the Local Offer.  The storyboard was produced with children and young people.  Parents, carers, children and young people in Staffordshire as well as other areas within the West Midlands Region had the opportunity to feedback their views into the final version.   Once completed this will be published on the Local Offer and promoted to children, young people, parents, carers and practitioners.

We have forwarded your feedback onto practitioners about having more videos.  More recorded webinars are now available to view, for example on our Preparing for Adulthood section - social care and travel and post 16 options for young people with EHCPs.

Promotion

Continue to promote to parents, young people, settings/practitioners via awareness talks, email and social media.

Since the previous survey, we have done 13 awareness talks and circulated the tour of the local offer video for viewing during team/service meetings. To date this has received 89 individual views.  Our SEND Local Offer promotional materials page has been developed, which includes links to a range of promotional materials, a link to our Facebook Page, and downloadable images for schools and other services to add to their own websites.

During the 12 months following the last survey, there has been an increase of 12,234 users (36.83%) to 45,451 users with 193,677 page views.

Service feedback

Feedback on individual services was sent to organizational leads and relevant working groups for consideration.

Analyse and contact commissioned/public services listings regarding pathways and to ensure contact details are readily accessible with latest referral forms included.

Following the last survey, interactive pathway documents have been produced and added to the local offer.  For example, the preparing for adulthood pathway and the Early Years Speech, Language and Communication Needs pathway.
