The majority of children and young people who found it hard to find information and services on the website, said that this was due to the wording.

  • “Wording it in ways that kids understand because it seems to be aimed more at adults.”
  • “Can only use the correct spelling, if I spell it wrong nothing comes up”.
  • "Find it difficult to find the visual impairment service as I need to search for it"

All those who found it hard to find information and services, identified themselves as having cognition and learning difficulties or a visual impairment.  All those that found it very easy, identified themselves as having communication and social interaction needs and social, emotional and mental health needs.

What we will do
  1. Work with children and young people to look at producing easier to understand information that is more visual.
  2. Look at producing a video with children and young people on how to use the website and who can help you to find the information you are looking for.
  3. Add a direct link to the visual impairment service on the Education and Extra Help pages.
  4. Add information on subjects that children and young people would like more information on, such as finding a job.
  5. Research and test readers.
  6. Develop a children and young people’s mystery shopping scheme.
