Burntwood Family History Group

Our members have a shared interest in genealogy, researching our own family trees and helping others (members and non members) to research theirs. We have two meetings each month. They take place, normally on the second and fourth Monday of the month at Chase Terrace Academy and run from 7pm to 9pm.

The first is usually a speaker-led meeting with a talk on family history or a more general historical topic. The second is a Drop-In/Research Evening where BFHG members, and members of the public, can use Chase Terrace Academy's ICT facilities to research their family trees. Further details and a full list of forthcoming meetings is given on the page "Where and When We Meet" on our website.

Members of Burntwood Family History Group have transcribed historical records from our local towns and villages, including Local Parish Registers, Censuses, Monumental Inscriptions and School Admission Records. These are now available publicly through Find My Past. Members can submit their surname interests; these are listed on the BFHG website, and on the Family History Federation website, so that members and non-members can make contact and share information with others who are undertaking related research.

Burntwood Family History Group produces a quarterly journal which is exchanged with other family history societies, both nationally and internationally. It is free to members. In 2011, we began work on the Burntwood Memorial Project, researching the lives and families of servicemen from Burntwood and the local area who served and lost their lived during the Great War and other conflicts. The completed biographies are available on our website.
